When I first showed up as a communications manager at TCFV, the only camera in the entire building was an old cannon poweshot with a one-inch display and about 15 minutes of solid battery life. Even though we had quite a few photo-worthy events we had very little in the way decent photography to document the agency’s efforts. I lobbied the higher-ups for money to purchase a decent and began shooting every event possible. Why this has lead to the need for additional file servers (RAW files are not small) the agency now has a broader base of photography to pull from and relies much less on free stock photos.

I’ve photographed marches, fundraisers, trainings and all manner of situations where people sit in a circle and talk to each other. The most moving photo was at TCFV’s silent witness event, where victims of domestic violence are remembered at the Texas Capitol. A vicitm’s daughter sat underneath the silhouette memorializing her mother and spread rose pedals on the capitol steps, just as the sun started setting.

An Unreasonable Varierty

I take photos. Some are ok. Some aren't, but have personal significance that I feel should be inflicted on the public at-large (for this I apologize). Due to issues of volume, spam control, and my generally poor site management skills, I recently elected to join the community over at flickr. They now host the bulk of my quasi-daily one-off pics, brought to you literally in living color by this handy-dandy flash piece. (more..) If you'd like to see a more professional photo portfolio, mosey over to the photography section.

My photographic weapons of choice are a Nikon D-80 with the 25-105 macro, a Nikon N-80 and a sony cybershot that accompanies me on bike rides when it's feeling brave. I do occasionally get request to use my photos in various projects. Everything on this site is licensed under an attribution creative commons license. In other words go for it, just tell me about it.

If you've made it to this paragraph, I'm guessing you're at work with not a lot to do. If that's the case, the categories off to the left comprise my internet junk drawer of photos - everything from work stuff, to my cousin's kids.
