I think we will tell our children someday about how relevant blogs were at the start of internet. How citizen journalists actually had relevance before the media conglomerates figured out how brew the proper mix of pay-per-click, and social content narcotic. I’m under no illusions, that time has passed and the medium has been corpratized monetized and throughly fucked. I will begrudgingly except this sites lack of relevance and inability to rise above the likes of the social channels. That doesn’t mean however that i have any intention of shutting up shop. the motivation is different, the things i write here belong to me, are for my edification and should someone out in the big world of the internet besides the spam bots see it, good on them. This is content for content’s sake, nothing more.
Dead Servers
/in angry wade /by wadeferdFun times on the line with GoDaddy yesterday as our server went offline and refused to reboot. Shockingly at about 3pm after sacrificing our entire afternoon to IT gods, I kind of lost it. Matthew A. – Server Concierge: Is there anything else I can help you with? (third time he asked this in as […]
The Future
/in mini-post /by wadeferdI may not have my flying car yet, but the fact that astronauts can post pictures to Flickr from aboard the ISS almost makes that ok.
Excuses
/in angry wade /by wadeferdThey (the blog police) say never to post about how you haven’t been posting, not paying attention to your site, letting it fall in to disuse like some sad, sad Blockbuster in a strip center. Neglect, of the criminal variety so to speak. Well shit man, I’ve been busy. We got us a merger, I’ve […]
In the Details

Estonia
/in mini-post /by wadeferdIn their effort to join the EU, Estonia, unlike Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Greece, did something odd – when faced with deficits and lower tax income, they voluntarily shrunk their own economy.
Blackouts
/1 Comment/in Texas /by wadeferdMarket speculation anyone? Back in 2006, the state passed a rule gradually relaxing the system-wide offer cap from $1,500 dollars in 2007 to $2,250 in 2008. From December 2010 to Jan. 15 of this year there was a temporary cap of $180 a megawatt hour. On Jan. 15, the cap went back to $2,250 dollars. […]

Kill Switch
/in mini-post /by wadeferdEgypt has cut itself out of the internet, commerce be damned. Really illustrates the scariness of these proposed kill switches. Of course in America, it would only be used to protect us from the terrorists, right?
Revolutions
/in mini-post /by wadeferdRound two. This time in Egypt.
Priority
/in political bum fuzzery /by wadeferdRegardless of your view on Roe v Wade, this is asinine considering the budget insanity that awaits us. Gov. Rick Perry announced Saturday the addition of another issue to his list of “emergency items”: legislation requiring women to receive ultrasounds before having an abortion. The Legislature can take up the items immediately instead of waiting […]
